Global Missions Update

(NOTE: Brainerd gives financial support to missionaries Hector and Rachel Cortez in Costa Rica and Troy McNatt in South Africa. For full reports from them, check bulletin boards in the hall.)

Troy celebrated his 24th birthday in February by following the African custom of organizing his own party.

He reports having good talks with young people, trying to teach them to live ethical lives based on the principles and the person of Jesus. The youth in the Westlake church are focusing more on being faithful to the church on a broader scale that just the youth class. Troy had the privilege to baptize a young lady from the youth class. PTL! He also witnessed two African ceremonies - the presentation (an engagement ceremony), and the dote (dowry ceremony).

He asks us to keep praying for him and thanks everyone for support that comes in so many different ways.

Hector and Rachel have moved into a house in San Pedro, a section of San Jose. Their living room can accommodate 65-70 people and another 20 or so can be seated for worship in an attached sunroom. They have been visiting people in neighborhoods around them and also collected and distributed relief supplies for people suffering from floods in Limon on the east coast of Costa Rica.

Plans are underway for a team of workers from the Signal Mtn. Church to go to Costa Rica in July for a campaign. Please pray for this effort and for the mission team in San Jose.

Also continue to pray for Marco, our own Iglesia de Cristo and for our outreach through World Bible School.         Bruce
